From India to Germany: A Girl’s Adventure in Coding and Travel
Hi there,
I’m Greshma Shaji, a passionate data scientist who loves data more than ice cream. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not an expert (yet) in the data field. I also find time to explore the world around me in between my work. I love to live my life in a disciplined way, which means I’m also diet and health conscious.
I was born and raised in a small village called Thottupuram in Pathanamthitta District, Kerala, India. But now, I’m in the heart of Europe — Germany. I’ve been living here for the past 1.5 years. The reason for this big move was my dream (and my father’s) to pursue higher education in Germany. This short time has changed my life a lot. I’ve gone on many adventurous trips, met new people, and learned to view my professional career in a different light. Moving from India to Germany was like stepping into a new life. Imagine Harry Potter’s first time in Diagon Alley, but with more sausages and less magic.

I haven’t traveled much in India, and to be honest, I’ve barely traveled outside Kerala. My only memory of traveling beyond Kerala is an industrial visit trip to Karnataka during college. Interestingly, while I didn’t travel much in India, in Germany, whenever a holiday comes up, I’m ready to pack my bags and explore new places. From getting lost in cities (pro tip: Google Maps is your best friend) to hiking in the Bavarian Alps (where I discovered my lack of fitness), every trip has been an adventure.

Let’s talk about my love for coding. My world is data. I’ve had the chance to work with some of Germany’s most valuable companies. So far, I’ve done some pretty cool projects here. Notably, I’m a quantum computing AI researcher at BMW — yes, the car company. My job involves teaching quantum bits to dream of electric cars (and no, they don’t come with a manual).

Expect a mix of handy coding tips, tutorials, and possibly some epic fails, because, hey, nobody’s perfect, right?
This blog is my little corner of the internet where I share travel tips, cooking tips, coding tips, and more. Whether you’re a fellow student, a coding geek, or someone who just loves a good travel story, there’s something here for you.
So grab a cup of chai (or beer, if you’re embracing the German spirit), and join me as I navigate through this crazy, wonderful journey. Trust me, it’s going to be a fun ride!

Stay tuned for more tales of code, travel, and everything in between. Thanks for stopping by, and see you in the next post!
Catch you later,
Greshma :)
